Critical Response Process Salon
Join Backyard Stages for an evening of new work by artists we love! À la the Parisian avant-garde artist/writer salons of the early 1900s, hosted by famous poet and playwright Gertrude Stein, our Critical Response Process (CRP) Salon follows in the footsteps of generations of poets and playwrights by bringing together artists from various performance disciplines to share new works, receive and give creative feedback, and discuss the future of artistic expression.
CRP is a method, designed by Liz Lerman, for both giving and getting feedback on a creative work-in-progress. After the artist performs part of their piece, a four-step feedback process begins. In this stage of the process, a trained facilitator moderates a discussion where the audience is encouraged to offer their thoughts on topics the artist wants feedback on.
This playful, experiential, intentional environment helps artists hone their work and brings audiences inside the creative process.
After all, one of our core values at Backyard Stages is Collaboration: Art is meant to be shared! And our belief is that purposeful communication provides an avenue for flourishing, fresh perspectives.
