Education
Arts are FUNdamental.
Arts are intergenerational, intersectional, intercultural, multidisciplinary, and fundamental. A core value of Backyard Stages is arts education. We believe that theatre is both instrumental and holds intrinsic worth to individuals, communities, and society as a whole. Our leadership has worked extensively as arts educators across the country, integrating arts into Common Core curriculum, as well as through after-school and independent programming.
Art education is a right, and one that our most vulnerable communities are more likely to lose. While we can easily equate the value of art to dollars in the U.S. GDP, we can also easily equate the inherent value to ourselves and those around us.
